King Abdul Aziz University bears the name of the founder of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, King Abdul Aziz. The establishment of this university was in 1387 AH / 1967 AD as a private university, with the aim of spreading higher education in the western region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. With the efforts of the loyal people of this country, the dream turned into a reality and the idea came into existence as the members of the Preparatory Committee had a meeting with King Faisal bin Abdul Aziz, and he, may God have mercy on him, expressed all support and support for the idea of the project, and formed the founding committee of the university headed by the late King Faisal and His Excellency the Minister of Education at the time Hassan bin Abdullah Al Sheikh.
Korea University's College of Life Sciences & Biotechnology is giving its full support for innovative results in life sciences engineering in it's drive to play a leading role in the development of life sciences in Korea, and the world. This aim is to be achieved by innovations in laboratory-based education, the strengthening of research competitiveness and the administration of innovative cooperative programs. Notably, the College has been selected for the Seoul-area university specialization support program for four consecutive years and for the 1st and 2nd stages of the BK21 project, showing its leadership in the education and research of life sciences in Korea.
Our department began in 2001 as the Department of Biosystems funded by a 30 billion won donation to Mr. Moon Soul Chung, the chairman of a company called Mirae Corporation, at a time when the concept of bio fusion technology was first being recognized. Starting with five faculty members in 2002, the number has steadily increased to 24 in 2017. As of 2017, 319 undergraduates and graduate students are studying in our department.
