Jakarta will host the ASEAN Blue Innovation Expo 2025, an event focused on innovation and investment in the blue economy across ASEAN and Timor-Leste. The expo aims to accelerate sustainable growth in the blue economy by introducing innovative solutions for managing marine and inland water resources. The event will bring together various stakeholders to develop technologies and strategies that address environmental challenges while improving the well-being of coastal communities.

The ASEAN Blue Innovation Expo 2025 will take place on February 19, 2025, at Assembly Hall Menara Mandiri, Jakarta, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This expo is part of the ASEAN Blue Economy Innovation (ABEI) Project, funded by the Government of Japan and aligned with the ASEAN Blue Economy Framework 2023.

The event will bring together key stakeholders, including ASEAN organizers, sponsors from the Japanese government, and companies specializing in environmental technology, marine industries, and sustainable energy. A total of 60 selected innovators that have been chosen from over 1,300 applicants, will showcase their solutions. Investors, academics, and industry leaders will also participate, sharing insights on advancing the blue economy.

The expo will highlight four key challenges in the blue economy:

1. Sustainable fisheries and aquaculture

2. Plastic pollution reduction

3. Climate change adaptation

4. Sustainable tourism. 

Featured innovations include smart aquaculture technology to improve fish farming efficiency, biodegradable materials and plastic alternatives to reduce marine pollution, and ocean-based renewable energy, such as wave and wind power. Additionally, AI and IoT-based ecosystem monitoring systems will be introduced to support marine conservation efforts.

The event is expected to enhance collaboration between governments, investors, and innovators in developing the blue economy. It also aims to accelerate the adoption of eco-friendly technologies in marine and fisheries sectors while attracting investments in sustainable marine resource management. Furthermore, the expo could create new job opportunities and strengthen marine-based industries, benefiting coastal communities.
