Kreta Ayer People’s Theatre (牛车水人民剧场) was built in 1969. The theatre has been revamped several times, including an entire overhaul which was completed in May 1979, before it became the well-equipped theatre seen on 30A Kreta Ayer Road today. Kreta Ayer People’s Theatre currently is managed by Kreta Ayer Community Club Management Committee, it continues to stage various arts and culture groups to the heartlands, having strong emphasis on Chinese opera, and with a keen sense of social responsibility. With more than 940 seats available, the Kreta Ayer People’s Theatre is a perfect venue for any form of modern & cultural performances.
Founded by Saleem Hadi (filmmaker, theatre practitioner, writer and media-arts educator) and D.Piriyadarisini, a highly versatile artist (dancer, singer, actress and educator), the SINGAPORE INDIAN THEATRE & FILM EXPLORERS LTD also known as S.I.T.F.E. was formed first as a social enterprise in 2016. In 2018, the registered entity became a non-profit organization that educates & empowers individuals with knowledge and essential tools to produce, act in or direct films & theatre productions. The enterprise provides platforms to showcase an individual’s creative potential and hidden talents, paving opportunities for employment, life-long learning and skills development.

With the ground breaking completed in 2019, we hope that the theatre will not only provide a space that can engage and inspire people from all walks of life when it opens in 2021, but also serve as a platform for homegrown artistes and arts groups to reach to as wide an audience as possible and scale their production for bigger audiences, both in Singapore and overseas.

When fears and insecurities take over, they block creative channels, and the creative energy is stuck with no way out. This “stuckness” then affects all areas of life. "The School of the Arts (SOTA) is Singapore’s first national pre-tertiary specialised arts school with a six-year integrated arts and academic curriculum, leading to the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or Career-related Programme, for youths aged 13-18 years old. Under the ambit of the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY), SOTA offers a dedicated development path for those who have interest and show early talent in the arts, providing a learning environment where both the artistic and academic potential can best be realised."

It is an Institute of Public Character. It is currently led by Artistic Director, Ong Keng Sen. TheatreWorks is an independent, non-profit Singaporean theatre company that develops and nurtures professional arts skills. It supports Singapore artists, and articulates the Singapore arts through its various productions and developmental programmes. It promotes and produces Singapore writing, interdisciplinary performances, collaborations with international artists. It also provides residencies for visual artists, documentary filmmakers or creatives working in contemporary visual culture and new media. The company recognises its responsibility in encouraging awareness of human and social issues, and is dedicated to sharing the transcendant potential of art with arts lovers and the Singapore community.
