Singapore Red Cross is a homegrown humanitarian organisation, dedicated to relieving human suffering, protecting lives and dignity and responding to emergencies since 1949. We serve the vulnerable through our blood donor recruitment programme, home and day activity centre for the disabled, elder aid, transport aid, family life aid, health aid and community first aid. We build capacity and resilience through our training academy, and volunteer and youth development. Beyond our shores, we mobilise and translate contributions from the donor community to relief and recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts, with the aim of helping communities affected by disasters.

In 1984, the first ever Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) was established in memory of McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc, a strong advocate for both children, and their families. Ray Kroc’s philosophy and belief that every child deserves a strong body and mind is being put into practice across the globe in all RMHC chapters as we provide and care to those who need it most.

" The Society Against Family Violence was birth 30 years ago when it became an Affiliate of the National Council of Social Service and a Member Organisation of the Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations in 1991. Before this, it had a long gestation period beginning with SCWO setting up a Task Force for the Prevention of Violence Against Women in 1986. The two years of its embryonic stage saw the Task Force holding travelling Exhibitions at various Community Centres and libraries its the message to “Stop Violence Against Women”. Then followed another two years of building networks amongst professionals and researchers from the social services and women’s groups. The year 1990 also saw two seminars, one done jointly with the Singapore Council of Social Services and the Social Work Department of the National University of Singapore and another, as a solo effort on the theme of “The Treatment of Men who Batter: A Workshop for Helping Professionals.” "
Singapore Women's Association (SWA) started as Siglap Girls' Club in 1954 to serve the needs of underprivileged girls in Singapore. With the establishment of the People's Association in 1960 to oversee activities for the Youth Movement, we decided to change our association name officially to SWA and shift our focus on empowering and helping women and the elderly. SWA was also known as 'Persatuan Wanita Singapura' during the days of Singapore’s merger with Malaysia. Since its inception, SWA had been rendering voluntary services to help to make Singapore a peaceful, happy and prosperous homeland for Singaporeans.
